Review on Hockey girl loves drama boy by Faith Erin Hicks

*Hockey Girl Loves Drama Boy* by Faith Erin Hicks is a graphic novel blending young adult romance with sports ambition. The story centers around Alix, a hot-headed hockey player with anger issues, and Ezra, a calm and composed drama enthusiast who seems to handle everything effortlessly.

Alix often finds herself bullied by Lindsay, the hockey captain, who constantly taunts her about her love life. The lack of intervention from the coach adds to Alix’s frustration. Provoked by Lindsay, Alix’s temper leads her into violence. Meanwhile, Ezra, unfairly labeled as gay by classmate Greg, helps Alix navigate her struggles. Their growing friendship hints at something more than just platonic feelings.

Alix’s passion for hockey shines through, making her character relatable to sports lovers. Ezra, on the other hand, maintains his cool demeanor until a clash with Alix, sparked by his best friend's interference, adds a slightly childish twist.

The novel features a simple plot with engaging illustrations, keeping the story gripping. However, the ending feels abrupt, leaving some issues unresolved, and could have benefited from further development. Overall, I’d rate the novel 3.5 stars for its engaging narrative and strong character dynamics, despite the unsatisfying conclusion.
