Book Review on "The Hoopoe on the Lawn By Ruskin Bond"

"The Hoopoe on the Lawn" by Ruskin Bond is a colorful illustrated novel comprising six incredible short stories that immerse readers in nature and Ruskin's surroundings, where our little hero spends his time. Each story has its own glory, making readers wish the stories would never end. Ruskin's adventures are a never-ending Hungama, whether he's visiting his Granny’s house, traveling in a Tonga, or secretly admiring nature; each has a touch of happiness that allows readers to enjoy Ruskin’s voyage.

Ruskin plays with words, enchanting and bewitching every reader throughout the book. It's a must-read for all children, providing a nostalgic journey into childhood. In these six short stories, one can sense Ruskin’s love for nature, his experiences with ghosts, his cravings for baked treats, his heartwarming company with Miss Kellner (his Granny’s tenant), and especially the story of the hoopoe in the lawn, where Ruskin has the chance to enjoy the view of this bird without interruption.

Coming to the illustrations, they are so admirable and beautiful that one can’t take their eyes off them. They blend so well with the story and are a delightful feast for the eyes. A few illustrations, such as Ruskin looking into the box of baked treats, exhibit his happiness. When he gives a flower to the protestors, it shows his bravery, and when he leaves his granny’s house, the touch of sorrow is explicitly seen in it.

As a huge fan of Ruskin, his books always make me happier and more cheerful. "The Hoopoe on the Lawn" is a five-star read for me, and I highly recommend it to all children who want to experience nature through Ruskin’s eyes and voyage.
