Review on "Men and dreams in the dhauladhar by Kochery C Shibu"

Men and dreams in the Dhauladhar by Kochery C Shibu is a debut novel and a general fiction.

About the Story:

The story revolves around three main characters Nanda, Khusuru & Rekha and their fate made them to meet in a Hydel Power Project.

Nanda is a civil who came from Kerala, he is well versed in Kalari a family tradition followed by his forefathers. His loving wife is Nandhinikutty and his mom all resides in Kerala. He leaves his family and fled to Dhauladhar to hide his past.

Khusuru, is a terrorist born and bought up in Deran, left behind by his parents. During his voyage, of finding his parents he faced so many hurdles in his life. In one such instance he had a little luck where he met Rekha, the only happiness in his life and he works as a labour in the project located at Dhauladhar to cover his identity.

Rekha, a doctor in profession and a Kathak dancer in passion. She travels many places to achieve her dream. Her grandmother being a renowned Kathak dancer, forces Rekha in terms of marriage, which she denies. During her expedition she meets Khusuru the terrorist and stays with him.

There comes situation and scenario were the three meet up and the story goes on.

Will the hydel power project be a successful one? Will Rekha and Khusuru be destined together? Will Khusuru be accused for terrorism? What fate is decided for the three? Lies the suspense of the story.

About the book:

The story is well written, and the pacing is intact. There are too many characters whirls around the novel, but each one as their own uniqueness. The author has made the story with perfect synchronizing effect. Each loose end has a connection and finally forms a complete fiction work.

Those lines written while watching the Dhauladhar peak impressed me a lot. I felt the winter all over the book and made me feel its chillness.

The author had put so much effort to write this story as it has minute details of each scenario is well explained, when it comes the project it is detailed, each character’s visibility is clear and overall bonding is perfect.

It is more into technical side of describing the dam’s constructions, its equipment’s the labours, deaths and natural hazards gives a swirly effect.
I would rate ☆☆☆☆ for this divergent novel.
