Book Review on "Vicious" by V.E. Schwab

"Vicious" by V.E. Schwab is a fantasy genre and an engaging story.

About the Story:

The story whirls around "Victor" and "Eli", initially they were good friends and later turned out to be the best enemies. They both were involved in a project about super natural powers, gradually they ended up as an “Extra ordinary’s”,(meaning persons with supernatural powers).

Eli considers “EO’s” as a threat for the society, hence he decides to kill all the existing EO’s with the help of Serena. Serena being an EO herself aids help from the police department for hunting the EO’s one by one through their special database.

In this mission of EO massacre, even Sydney, Serena's younger sister founds to be a victim. How Eli assassinates the EO’s? and what happens to their life, goes the rest of the story.

Will Eli accomplish his mission of EO massacre? Will Serena and Sydney join again as a family? Will Sydney survive this mission? Will this battle end, who will survive Victor or Eli?  Lies the suspense of the story.

About the book:

The book is so interesting, but I felt initial chapters were bit confusing as we cannot connect the flow, but then you can relate the knots of the story. The story speaks about supernatural powers that one possess, and they become an "Extra Ordinary" in short called as "EO".

All the characters has their own importance, each EO's super power was differentiated and utilized in the story. It makes us intrigued to think beyond whether the EO's exist, if yes, how they would look like all these thoughts revolves around us.

I like Victor's character, as he is not so heroic or not a villain type but a person who balances the entire story with his practical approach, and Serena for her super power. Controlling one's thought is something everyone craves for, but that doesn’t happen. Here Serena's power of making other to listen and do things as per her instruction creates an anxiety among the readers.

Overall, I enjoyed this fantasy tale.

I would rate 4.5 for this remarkable novel.
